Aetna Insurance & Drug Rehab

Aetna Insurance &Amp; Drug Rehab

Do you feel like you’ve hit your rock bottom because drugs and alcohol have f*cked up your life? Residential addiction treatment can help you transform your life, but how will you pay for it? There’s a number of ways to pay for rehab — a common one being paying with insurance. Aetna health insurance is a leading provider in California and across the US. If you’re struggling with substance abuse and have Aetna, here’s what you need to know when looking for drug rehab.

Does Aetna Insurance Cover Drug Rehab?

Every health insurance policy is different, but since the ACA (Affordable Care Act) was put in place, all health insurance providers legally must cover some portion of substance abuse treatment. What type of addiction treatment and how much is covered depends on your individual plan’s benefits. Some types of addiction treatment your provider may cover include:

Detox

Rehab (Residential Treatment)

-IOP (OutPatient)

-Drug Counseling

Being a leading provider, Aetna often covers a portion of the cost of drug rehab, but you’ll need to check your plan’s benefits first to be sure.

Rehabs Aetna Works With

Q: “If I have Aetna, do I need to go to a facility that’s in-network with my provider?”

A: The short answer is: No.

Aetna works with a number of drug rehabs, both in-network and out-of-network, but the portion of coverage you’ll get differs. If you have a PPO plan, you have the freedom to choose what residential treatment program you want, while an HMO plan may require you to go to a rehab in-network to get a portion of the cost covered. (If you do have an HMO plan, don’t worry, Transformations Care accepts cash pay and other types of payment without insurance.)

Aetna In-network vs. Out-of-network Costs

Typically, if you go to a drug rehab that’s in-network with your insurance provider, they’re more likely to cover a bigger portion of the cost of rehab. Depending on your insurance plan, Aetna may also cover a portion of your out-of-network costs. If you’ve reached your out-of-pocket max (the amount you pay before insurance starts paying 100% of your coverage) your plan may cover all of your residential addiction treatment costs.

How Do I Verify My Benefits?

You can find out how much you should expect to pay for your stay in rehab by verifying your benefits. To do this you can call the member services number on the back of your health insurance card to speak with an Aetna representative (beware of wait times). A faster way to verify your benefits is to give Transformations Care a call! We’ll help you find out how much your deductible is and how much you can expect Aetna (or any insurance provider for that matter) to cover your residential addiction treatment. For our admissions team to verify your benefits, we’ll need:

-Your full name

-Your birth date

-Your Insurance Provider

-Your member ID

-Your insurance’s member services number

Once you give us that, we’ll take care of the rest and help make your transition into Transformations Care as easy as possible.
