Benefits of Outpatient Addiction Treatment After Drug & Alcohol Rehab

Benefits Of Outpatient Addiction Treatment After Drug &Amp; Alcohol Rehab

Despite what you may have heard in aggressive late-night commercials, no form of rehab can “cure” your addiction. Like cancer, addiction is a chronic disease that can be treated into submission, only to rear its head later on. Residential addiction treatment, or rehab, is what you need to treat the most acute symptoms of your addiction, and to begin addressing the deeper root cause. But, your treatment doesn’t end the day you leave your residential addiction treatment facility. Outpatient addiction treatment can be a helpful next step to continue treating your addiction, and to ensure that you stay clean, sober, and healthy for good.

Why Try Outpatient Addiction Treatment?

Residential addiction treatment is specifically constructed to make your daily life as safe and comfortable as possible, so you can focus on getting well in the difficult days of early recovery. But let’s face it: That is not real life. In fact, if you’re just coming out of an active addiction, your life is probably as shit show. When you’re finally out of detox and residential addiction treatment, you may feel confident that you can take on anything, but you need to understand that you’re still healing. You still need and deserve support and guidance as you face the new stressors of life without drugs and alcohol.

What Happens in Outpatient Addiction Treatment?

In outpatient addiction treatment programs, you’ll have a built-in support system just like you did in residential treatment — only, with a bit more independence. You will be able to continue talking through your feelings and issues with counselors and medical professionals, and you’ll also have a support group of people in early recovery that you can lean on when shit gets real. You’ll also continue to learn more about your addiction, and how to cope with triggers in daily life.

What Kinds of Outpatient Addiction Treatment Are There?

There are several different options for outpatient treatment after inpatient, ranging from intensive to basic.

First and most intense are the Intensive Outpatient Programs. These require you to check in daily, and provide the most support for people in early recovery. Some people also try intensive outpatient treatment as a first step towards getting clean and sober if they’re not able to commit to residential addiction treatment.

Regular Outpatient programs are a little more relaxed. The schedule is not as intense, and you can fit it around your normal daily schedule. In fact, we also offer Nighttime Outpatient Programs for those that have a lot going on during the day and still want to stay connected to recovery.

No matter how busy you are, telehealth is a way to continue your treatment from home. With telehealth, we will connect with you via Zoom or telephone so you can get support and guidance from anywhere.

Basically, help is there for you. All you have to do is ask for it.

What Kind of Addiction Treatment is Right for Me?

Whether you opt to come in person because you’re more social, or you choose to stay home because you’re busy, any kind of outpatient treatment is better than none. So, what’s right for you?

If You…

  • Like interaction
  • Do better in groups
  • Want to get away from the house
  • Want to make connections in recovery

You would probably do well in one of our in-person outpatient programs, where you can get real-life support from experts and people going through the same struggles as you.

But If You…

  • Are more comfortable working through stuff on your own
  • Feel unsure or uneasy in groups
  • Don’t have transportation
  • Need flexibility with your schedule

You might want to try our telehealth addiction treatment services. That way, you can log on from anywhere and get the help you need to stay clean. We can schedule meetings for any time and will work with you.
